About Us
Indigenous Imagined, Creating & Reimagining Across Worlds
MASAPERĀ was born from the crossing of worlds ~ a nomadic trail of souls. Where the desert met the sea, and Adivasi Indigenous roots became Roma wanderers, carried forward in new forms and new lands.
We are an Adivasi and Dalit led house of clothing, jewellery, and homewares, created to challenge exclusion and to return voice, livelihood, and leadership to Indigenous and caste oppressed makers. Our spirit is woven from Kalbeliya Sapera mothers, Roma ancestors, and kin across many shores ~ old threads reimagined into fabrics of resilience and beauty.
MASAPERĀ is guided by ancestry yet shaped by the future ~ where memory, migration, and creativity flow together as one living story.
Our Initiative
MASAPERĀ grows from a circular and cross cultural vision that uplifts and empowers:
-
Preserving traditions ~ reawakening Kalbeliya, Adivasi, and Dalit craft, reimagined with new hands and fresh imagination.
-
Empowering communities ~ creating sustainable income, training, and pathways that especially uplift women.
-
Ethical & circular making ~ from reviving forgotten fabrics to fair wages and eco conscious practices.
-
Crossing worlds ~ weaving connections across India and beyond, guided by ancestry yet turning toward brighter futures.
-
Reinvesting in resilience ~ supporting education, health, and creativity so communities can thrive and flourish.
